It was a surprise for us to have a delicious, perfectly cooked Malayali sadhya in the heart of Chelmsford on the auspicious occasion of Vishu, Kerala New year. A nostalgic experience for us as the aroma, yummy food, amiable service and excellent hospitality by the staff brought it all together along with the best Malayalam song playlist. Thank you for your walm welcome. we will visit again.

Admittedly, the photo doesn’t do it justice, but this meal was so good therefore I was happy to share! We stumbled across Grand Cochin Chelmsford and were treated to one of the best Indian meals we’ve had in a long time. Tempted by the dosas at first, I ended up asking about a dish I’d spotted on Google — and I’m so glad I did. What arrived was a beautiful, generous selection served in a rustic clay pot: fragrant rice, tender fish, rich beef, succulent chicken, a soft omelette, tangy pickles, and a crispy poppadom. It was a complete feast, easily enough for one very hungry person or to share between two. The service was warm, friendly, and genuinely helpful, with great explanations of the dishes for someone less familiar with the menu. A real hidden gem in Chelmsford — can’t wait to return!
